David De Groot Earns Bronze at World U23 Championships

David de Groot of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, along with his crew mates, earned Bronze in the U23 Men's Four at the 2015 World Rowing U23 Championships!

...The crew of Jakub Bucsek (Columbia University), Lucas de Gelder (McGill University Rowing Club), Mackenzie Copp (Boston University) and David de Groot (Brock University/St. Catharines Rowing Club) fought a close race, changing positions three times with the Americans and then closing in on the British crew in the final 500m. Canada finished in a time of 6:13.44, just 0.37seconds off the silver medal which went to Great Britain, behind the gold medal winning Romains [sic].

Matthew Finley of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, along with his crew mates, won GOLD at the 2015 World Rowing U23 Championships!

The Canadian Men’s Quadruple Sculls topped the podium with a gold medal finish on the final day of racing. World U23 Champions of Matthew Finley (St. Catharines Rowing Club), Karl Zimmermann (Leander Boat Club), Graham Peeters (Peterborough Rowing Club) and stroke, Taylor Perry (Fredericton Rowing Club) led from start to finish ahead of crews from New Zealand and Australia. Read more...

SCRC Athletes Represent Canada at 2015 International Competitions

There are a number of athletes from St. Catharines Rowing Club that are representing Canada at International Competitions this summer.

CanAmMex [Mexico City]
Congratulations to the SCRC athletes that competed in Mexico City this past weekend in the CanAmMex Rowing Regatta. The athletes who represented Canada are:
Hannah Bristowe (Simcoe), 
Skyler Goudswaard (Grimsby), 
Anna Maloney (St. Mikes), and 
Nick Nero (St. Francis)
We will post results as soon as we have them.

Junior National Team U19 [Rio de Janeiro]
Brett Vilk (Grimsby) JM4-
Brett will be competing in Rio De Janeiro on the future 2016 Olympic racing course. The World Junior Championships start August 5 and continue to August 9.

U23 National Team [Plovdiv, Bulgaria]
Grayson Gray BLM2-
James Meyers BLM2- (Grayson and James are the 2014 U23 Bronze medalists in the BLM2- event.)
Dave DeGroot BM4- 
Matt Finley BM4x.
Racing at the World U23 Rowing Championships takes place from July 22 to 29 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

FISU 28th Universiade [Gwangju, KOR]
A number of SCRC and local athletes represented Canada at the FISU 28th Universiade in Gwangju, Korea. Congratulations to:
